A little worried..

  • Nov. 26th, 2008 at 7:46 PM

My weight loss is going wonderful!!! I have lost 11 pounds in 10 days! Woot! But, now I am a little nervous. I feel GREAT, and im happy, and I have energy... however... I don't want loose skin! With the raw food diet.. weight loss is rapid, so by doing that.. I KNOW I will have skin loose, and I will still cover my body because I will still be "ashamed" of it because now.. instead of all the fat there, there will be skin, which im my opinion looks worse than the fat. I have read that any weight loss over 100 pounds.. there will be loose skin. I have also read that no matter how much you tone, there will still be eccess skin. I DON"T WANT IT!!! And I will NEVER have the money for surgery, and if I get surgery than I have to deal with scars that will not be pretty! God I am so confused. Do I continue to lose weight and then be unhappy because I wear what I wish because it would still look nasty, or do I just try to stay as I am.. maybe loose a little bit of weight and when I see the skin, stop. God. There are some sites that say with a raw food diet, you have less skin afterwards because of the good food that you are eating, but I have so much to lose. >.< THis sucks.

quick update

  • Nov. 21st, 2008 at 10:09 PM

My energy is getting better, and my attitude is more positive. I don't have that many cravings and they are strong enough to resist thankfully. I feel that I am doing really well. Still trying to incorporate more foods, but I have never been good at eating a variety of food, and I know that it is crucial that I do in the raw food lifestyle. So far I have lost 7 pounds and it has only been 6 days! I know that the weight will start to slow down a bit, but as long as Im loosing, it will be good. ^_^
So, my foodage for the day? I had a banana/strawberry/romaine lettuce smoothie for breakfast. I had a yummy salad, but was still hungry, so I had me a bean burritoe. I snacked on some nuts and had an orange throughout the day, and a cocoa/pastacio bar for another snack. Now, im eating another salad, and might have some more nuts later. Dont' know. I went to the grocery stores today and picked up alot of frutis and veggies. My fridge looks like a produce section! lol.
One thing that Im getting worried about is what am I going to do when it is my moon cycle? All the cravings I have are sooooo strong! I don't want to mess up and have to start back over. :( We will see.

Here we go.. day 5!!!

  • Nov. 20th, 2008 at 6:42 PM

Today, I did Good!!! Yay!! I didn't really have any cravings like yesterday. Craved chocolate a little bit though but not that badly. i woke up feeling good, had energy throughout the day, ate good things, and was positive. I realized this morning however that yesterday when I had made that smoothie I made it wrong. >.< It was supposed to be bananas, strawberrys and romain lettuce, not parsley. The Parsley goes with pears. So, this morning for my breakfast I made a pear/parsley smoothie and it tasted soooo much better. I actually really liked it and plan on making more. :) Tomorrow I am going to try the banana/strawberry/romain lettuce one. I hope its good. Is weird to think that romain lettuce would go in a smoothie. lol. I snacked on the normal stuff I do, but less again today as well. My first snack I had the cocoa bar I had yesterday. Lunch was another yummy salad, next snack an apple. when I got home I ate a banana, and I snacked on some broccoli, cauliflower and nuts. (not all at the same time. lol). I have found though that I am not wanting to eat the foods that I normally eat when I get home, like my rice, burritoes, sandwiches.. etc. I wonder if that craving will happen soon though, probably. I do get a little sad when I think that i wont be eating my normal foods anymore, but i want to be healthy and thinner and that is what is most important. Its going to be hard when I go out to places to eat with other people. The smells will be too tempting. BUT.. I am transitioning, so if there is something that I am craving and is GOOD for me, I will attempt. Who knows, I might not find it appitizing anymore. I have heard that it happens.
Oh! I have lost 6 pounds! yay! About a pound a day so far is what it averages out to. Water weight? I dont know. I didn't have a lot of water in my body that I knew of that had to get out. We will see how it goes. ^_^

Day number.. you guessed... 4!

  • Nov. 19th, 2008 at 6:25 PM

4th day. Nothing really special. Had really really bad cravings for fries and something from the snack machine at work, but I was good and did not give in and I am really proud of myself. ! ^_^ I am used to eating fries from work (not a good thing, i know). I did have something different to eat though. So, here goes.
Last night I went to walmart and bough me a blender. Yay for my first blender!!! Anyways, I also got some parsley, pears, bananas, strawberrys, and some other things like figs. Never had plain figs before. So, this morning I made me a banana/strawberry parsley smoothie! The receipe called for frozen bananas. You know what my dumb ass did? I put the whole banana in the freezer and when I took it out this morning, I couldn't peel it >.> I think I was was suppose to peel it and then freeze it. I will have to look more into it tonight. It was pretty good though. I tasted the fruit more though, but the parsley bits gave it tecture. Something that I am going to have to get used to i suppose. I then of course snacked on a few Goji berrys and pumpkin seeds. Not as much as I have been though! Snack was a banana and a celery stick with some organic peanut butter. Lunch was a nice big organic salad! Yay! Its weird. After I eat lunch, like right after, I crave the fried stuff and the unhealthy stuff. Addiction.. i have to get over it. So.. instead of heading for something bad, I had an apple. I was good until my next break, and then I had an organic cocoa bar, yummy sutff). After work I worked out and came home. I had to eat something quick  due to leaving for a meeting, so... I grabbed something quick. I have bean burritoes and I popped one of them in the microwave and put some soy cheese on it and topped it off with organic salsa.(also had some grapes)  I actually was not craving it, and I really didn't want to eat it but It was quick, and I was hungry. :(  I almost went a whole day with out something cooked. It will get better
Yes.. I weighed myself again this morning. I can't help it!! I didn't gain any weight. Lost a couple of ounces. :)
So.. that was my day.

A little bit of craving

  • Nov. 18th, 2008 at 6:10 PM

Day 3.. woo hoo! Im doing pretty good.. at least I think I am. I did weight myself again this morning, only because I couldn't..lol, and it was a pound lighter. Still not really putting anything into that. Could just be water weight, but it is nice to see. At least the dial is not going up! >.<. Im wondering if the dial would go up once I start working out. :( But at least I would be building muscle, and that is good. I need to find foods with protein in them to eat so I get enough when I work out. *nod*
So, my food for the day so far. Breakfast was the same as yesterday exept I didn't have any blackberrys.. I had a banana with the rest of the fruit. Tonight I am going to get more fruit. I am hoping to find a Papaya. I REALLY want one. I snacked on a few peices of Cacao nibs before my first break. Didn't touch the pumpkins seeds during that time. :) For my break I had an apple. Yummy. Between break and lunch I had a little bit more of the nibs and some pumpkin seeds. I was out of salad, so for lunch I had to have what was left in my fridge. So. I had a Morning star veggie burger on sesame seed organic bread and an avacado on top of it. mmmmmm. ^_^ I alslo have 2 sticks of celery with a little bit of organic peanut butter and another banana. Actually got full.. but of course that fullness didn't last long. So.. I snacked on some more pumpkin seeds and nibs (not that much really.. not even a handful) and then for my next snack I had another apple. I will say by the time I left work, my stomach was growling a little bit. I figure it is also due to me shrinking my stomach as well. It was kinda large in there.
After work I went to Suzannes natural foods and bought me my dinner which is an whole wheat organic tortilla filled with hummus, carrots, zuccini and organic cheese. I also bought some more pumpkin seeds, some Goji berrys, organic spinach and salad mix and organic avacadoes. You know.. no wonder so many people are overweight! Eating healthy is expensive! The Goji berrys alone were about 8 dollars!
Right now I am having a craving to cook something and eat more. Its really hard not to go in there and microwave a bean burritoe and top it with salsa. What I just had was a lot healthier for me than that processed bean burritoe in my freezer. I know I should throw them away so I am not tempted, but to me that is a waste of money, and if I am broke.. I can eat it. Still healthier than most stuff out there.
Tonight after I watch the Biggest Loser (addicted), I am going to go to the store and get me a blender and some yummy fruits and greens to blend together. Yay!!!

Day number two.. still good. ^_^

  • Nov. 17th, 2008 at 6:29 PM

Well, today was not hard at all. I know its because I am transitioning slowly into this..and I am already used to not eating any meat. I really had no cravings for anything today, but I do know that I am going to have to start bringing in different kinds of food because I will get bored eating the same thing everyday, and I also won't be getting the nutrition I should be getting. So, here is my foodage for the day. ^_^
For breakfast I had another fruit platter. I had cantelope, grapes, an orange and this time I had some blackberrys. Instead of having a bagel like yesterday I had two Morning star veggie sausage patties. (those are the bomb by the way, Im going to miss them). I was getting full off the fruit this morning as well, but I knew that if I didn't eat them I would be starving later. Before my first break I snacked on the raw pumpkin seeds I have in my drawer at work. Break was another yummy Fuji Apple. :) I started getting really hungry again before my lunch break. Im going to have to figure out something to eat along with my apple to make me last until lunch. But.. I had another handful of pumpkins seeds and a banana nut bread organic bar (same brand from yesterday). I could have probably gone without the bar.   For lunch I had another yummy salad topped with mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumbers and avacadoe. Sooo good. I could eat a salad everyday for lunch.. no problem. I also had another veggie soup that I could probably not have eaten, because I was almost full off the salad I had. For my next break I had a banana and a small hershey kiss. ( I love my chocolate!). After work I went to Fox Farm whole foods and bought me a magazine, a vegan chocolate cookie and some cacao nibs. They actually taste pretty good, but I bought them so I can put them in a trail mix I want to get the ingredients for later, and also a smoothie that David Wolfe makes that he swears by. I wants to try it. So.. anyways, I get home and I make me another huge salad minus the avacadoe (because I only have one left.. thats going to be for lunch tomorrow). Dang.. just remembered I forgot to buy sprouts. You know they make you hungry? >.>. And now.. Im snackin on a mixture of nuts again. mmmm. I am wondering how many calories I have consumed today. Am I getting enough? I don't feel sluggish or bad. I feel normal. I DO need to get more of a variety in my diet though. I need to make sure I get all the vitamins and nutrients that I need to be getting. Considering getting a multi-vitamin. They actually have a RAW multi out there now. :)

So, this is my second day. Pretty boring. I weighed myself this morning however, and the scale was down 4 pounds than what it was yesterday, but I am not really counting it. I will check again at the end of the week.. and THEN i will see what the weight loss is.

Day 1 of Transitioning to Raw foods.

  • Nov. 16th, 2008 at 6:55 PM

I have decided to blog about my journey to a Raw Food lifestyle. I have been interested in the Raw lifestyle for many years, but never took the step to get there. I have been vegetarian for years, (with a set back or two in the recent months :( ) and I want to go farther. I know that most people think that the next step after becoming a vegetarian would be to become Vegan, but I want to go further. The health benefits from a raw food diet far outweigh those of a Vegetarian/Vegan diet. True... all three diets are WAY better than the standad american diet, but I want true health. I want to eat food the way it is meant for us to eat. I believe we adopted most the lifestye of cooking our food out of starvation. Same with eating meat. And when it was no longer needed to cook our food, we continued because it tastes good. We have an addiction that spans hundreds and hundreds of years. We now live in a world where we no longer need to kill our food or cook our food. So, I am going to attempt to go the next step. It is going to be a slow process, but I believe that it is something that I can do. I see the Raw people and see their energy and the life that is in them and I want that! (Would soooo love to meet David Wolfe!!! Look him up!). Ok.. so here we go. ^_^

Today, November 16th was the first day (of many) of my transition to Raw foods. Since this is TRANSITION, I will still be eating cooked foods, but I will be incorporating more raw foods in. Today for breakfast I had a whole wheat bagel with blueberry cream cheese (yeah.. I know, not that healthy. :( ) and I also had a fruit plate. I had an orange, banana, grapes and cantelope. Yumm. I then headed off to work. After about an hour and a half at work, I started to get a little hungry, so I grabbed some raw pumpkin seeds that I bought at Suzannes (a health food store here in Joplin) and munched on them till my break. For my break I had a Fuji apple. :) Those are some good apples. By the time lunch came around though, I was starving. I had tried to eat some more seeds but they didn't do to much. I have 2 1/2 hours from the time I log in in the morning and my first break and then from my break to lunch. (just thought I would throw that in there). For my lunch I had a spring mix/spinach salad with mushrooms, tomotoes, cucumbers and a mushroom dressing topped with an avacadoe. I then also had some veggie soup. For my next break I had some blueberry yogurt. I had this because I just got off being on anti-biotics for a staph infection and I need good stuff in my body. I know that there is probably something better out there for me to take, just haven't researched it yet. I then come home.
I was not starving when I got home, just hungry. I have bean burritoes in my freezer that I love to eat, but I decided not to eat them. I had stopped by Dillions on the way home and had gotten some blackberrys so I snacked on them for a few. Wow.. i forgot how tart they were!! lol. I then had a Organic Chocolate Almond Fudge bar, some broccolli and cauliflower with a teeny tiny bit of ranch dressing and now im just snacking on a few raw nuts. I got them from Food-4-less, and they aren't the organic kind. :( You can get them in the big boxes they have in the aisle there and at Walmart. But I thought "better than salted and roasted).
I am going to have to do more research on food this week so when I get paid again this week I can try some new things. I also need to figure out what foods will give me protein, and I am going to have to get some B12 supplements. Im a creature out of habit, and trying new foods is not something I do often, so this should be interesting. I am also going to have to buy a blender this paycheck.

So.. that was my first day. I feel normal at the moment. Might have some side effects to the veggies I just ate though a little bit ago! >.> But thats normal. :P lol. I do know that as I bring in more raw to my diet, I will start to detox, and I will start craving. Already today.. I wanted to go in the snack bin and get me some chocolate bar or something. But I didn't get it, I instead went back to my desk and had one hershy kiss. ^_^ Yay! But.. I need to get more good snacks. The probably is, at my job, they don't like you eating at your desk. :( Will figure something out though.
